Tutorial with Ian - Using illustration as a means of communicating people's history

The Bradford Pit Project

On Tuesday I had a tutorial with Ian to catch up on my next steps for my masters and he told me about a design student Lauren Murphy who wanted, in honour of her grandparents, the miners pit to be remembered.
The Etihad Stadium had been built on an old mining pit but there has been no memorial or sign to say the pit was ever there. I think what Lauren has done is amazing and should be more well-known. Using her art degree as a means to place something for remembrance of working people is inspirational.

It has made me think more about how I can use my degree for this purpose, maybe not now but in the future hopefully I can do something similar.
