WCML talk Fenner Brockway

Today's library talk was from Hazel Kent a tutor at the British Grosseteste University in Lincoln.
Hazel talked about Fenner Brockway who was a conscientious objector in WW1.
I had never heard about Fenner before so the talk was very informative and interesting, Hazel has started a blog to document Fenner's life and is in the midst of writing a biography on him.
I found hearing about the connection of religion and socialism that Fenner had very interesting as he believed that all things man and animal were equal regardless of race, class and gender. I think that's the best description of socialism and I found it inspiring how he found this through his Christian faith but moved away from his religion after deciding that Capitalism had corrupted the church.
His ideas reminded me of those of William Morris and his background in religion resulting in a unity with people and nature also reminded me of William Wordsworth.
